Turn the water off while brushing your teeth...Tip #8

Did you know that the average bathroom faucet flows at a rate of 2 gallons per minute? I was curious to see how much people pay per gallon for water, so I did some research. Luckily we have a well. The lowest price I could find was $2.50 and the highest I looked at was almost $20.00 per 1000 gallons. Now according to the EPA the average american citizen uses 100 gallons per day. Keep in mind that is per person, not per household!

My tip for today is:

Turn the water off while brushing your teeth!

Brushing your teeth twice a day for at least one minute, you could save 4 gallons minimum per person a day!!! With 3 people that would be 360 gallons saved in a month. Turning the water off will not only save you money, but it will help preserve one of our most precious resources. Too many people take water for granted. So, please do your part to be ecOnomical and turn the water off while you're brushing your teeth!
