How to make your refrigerator more energy efficient. (Step #1)

Your refrigerator is one of the most important appliances that you own...AND it can also be one of the biggest energy hogs. Even the energy star efficient ones can be inefficient if you are not energy conscious. pokpok Now I'm not suggesting that you go out and buy a new fridge. Unless of course, you're in the market for one. Then you can add that to the list of reasons of why you need a new one.

However, what I am suggesting is that you become aware of where and how you're being inefficient. No one is perfect. It takes an effort to look at yourself and say 'hey...this is what I need to change'. It makes it a bit easier when your trying to be more ecOnomical...especially when you can save yourself some $$$$!!

'We're not trying to air condition the house using the fridge!'

Sound familiar? That's one of the biggest ways to be inefficient with your fridge...leaving the refrigerator door open.

takboleYou want to pour a drink so you leave the door open while you're pouring.

takboleYou stand with the door hanging wide open while you decide which kind of sandwich you want to make.

takboleYou don't check to make sure the door has actually sealed when you pushed it shut.

Make sure the refrigerator door is closed sealed shut when not in use.

Yeah...it's that simple. The first step to having a more energy efficient refrigerator is to become energy conscious yourself and shut the door.
